My Mom

My Mom called me last night and told me she has breast cancer. I talk to my parents every Sunday night and a couple of weeks ago they didn't seem like themselves. I asked her what was wrong and she said everything is OK. I knew something was wrong!!! She saw that she was a little swollen by her armpit and made an appointment the next day. She told me a bunch of tests that they did but I really don't remember what the time frame was. She has known since the beginning of October. They did test her lungs and her bones for cancer and she also had a colonoscopy. Those turned out negative. She goes to get a lumpectomy tomorrow. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Josh

Josh was hit by a car riding his bike home from school. He was in a crosswalk when a 16 year old girl hit him going at least 40 MPH. He was rushed to the hospital by ambulance. Luckily he doesn't have any broken bones or any serious injuries. He does have a bad case of road rash on his face, hands, elbows, arms, knees and legs. He is doing much better now, he is just a little sore!!

Miles of Grace

I wanted to explain how I came up with the name of my blog. Josh's middle name is Miles and Taylar's is Grace. They mean everything to me and I am so lucky to have both of them!!! They are both growing up way too fast. Josh is now 14 and going into high school this year. I have known him since he was 2 and he has grown to be such a nice kid. Taylar just turned 3 and she is the sweetest little girl! She loves to give hugs and kisses. I feel like the luckiest Mom ever!!

We Got FIRST Place!!

I've been waiting to write this until I got some pictures. I was the first one to race in the relay. I swam a half mile and I was the first one out of the water. We had an all women team and there were all men and mixed teams also. After the swim I had to run a 1/4 of a mile into the transition area where my friend was waiting with her bike for me to give her the timing chip that was around my ankle. She had to bike 14 miles and she kicked butt!! Our runner took off to run 3 miles. She is super fast but wasn't able to catch the all men team. We were second over all and first in the all women team. We received our medal at the end of the race and also received a trophy at the award ceremony. The official pictures aren't posted yet with our trophy but here is one with our medals. I had so much fun and I can't wait to do another one!!

Memorial Day Weekend 2008

Once again I am traveling to Austin, TX where my best friend since 5th grade lives. One of the reasons why I am going, other to see her, is that we are doing a relay triathlon. I am swimming, she is biking and her friend Jody is running. Last year I trained to do this and unfortunately it was cancelled due to weather. This year I have been swimming twice a week and doing 1 mile each time. I only have to swim a half mile in the race so I know I am very prepared for this!! This is a big deal to me since I really don't like to swim anymore and I am proud of myself for getting back in the water. I swam for 14 years and the last 9 of those years I had practice 10 times a week!!! I leave May 23rd and the race is on the 25th!! I am so excited!!

NO MORE 2's!!!

It has been over 2 weeks now that Taylar hasn't had her pacifiers or as she calls them "my twos". Pierre called my saying that he just talked to a pediatrician and she said that we need to take them away because it is really bad for her teeth. I sucked my thumb until I was 4 so I really didn't even think anything of it. I did have really bad buck teeth though! I told Pierre tonight is the night! He asked if I was sure because he had band practice and he wouldn't be there to help. I said I could do it! I got her pacifiers and cut a little hole in the top. When it was time to read stories she asked for them and she put the first one in and then the other one. She said "Mommy they don't work". I said "they must be broken and we better throw them away". She didn't want to at first and then she did. She was crying for about 20 minutes and told me she was ready for bed. I started to tuck her in and tell her 2 more stories and Pierre walked in. I guess he tells better stories because every night she wants him to tell her stories!! Anyway, she slept the entire night without the 2's!!! She asked for them one other time but that's it!! I would have done this a long time ago if I knew it was going to be this easy!!

I was talented like my Mom. This is the second year that my Mom has made summer outfits for Taylar. I am always in awe when I open the package that she mailed me. I really don't know how she does it. Here are the outfits she made this year:
